There are several logs that can be accessed to tell you more about a backup operation:

Backuplist+ log windows

  1. Show Log Window: This is the backuplist+ log which shows the last several backups, their times, info etc..
  2. Show rsync output Log: This is the rsync log which shows the sync progress. If you enter your password in the Global settings panel, this log will be found in your Home Folder > Library > Logs folder and is called rsynclog.log. It will show live updated progress of the file transfer and any sync errors that may occur. Many of these errors are not fatal or important to the outcome of transfer, though some are…
  3. Show rsync error Log: If you check the "Debug" option in Global settings panel, a log will be produced in Home Folder > Library > Application Support > Backuplist folder called rsycnErrors.log. The rsync error output stream will go into this log and may help troubleshoot rsync errors, files not copied, etc.
  4. Show Debug Log: This is the debug log and is useful mostly to me if there is a problem with backuplist+ and we need to find it. This log will be found in your Home Folder > Library >Application Support/Backuplist+ folder and is called backuplist+.log.You can send me this log if there is a problem and it will help me to pinpoint the bug.
  5. Show scheduling: This shows a log of the current scheduled backups, their times etc...
  6. Show Volumes folder: This will open the hidden Volumes folder on your hard drive. There will be listed any mounted disks. Sometimes there can be aliases left in there to disks that are no longer mounted which can cause a backup to go into the "bad" alias instead of the intended backup Volume! I have gone to great lengths to prevent this but you should check there if files are disappearing. This happens with all backup software and copy tools, often if a destination path is missing or messed up.
